Ironically after our last blog being about safety, I myself got in an awful car accident this past Friday night. I was on the way to my friend’s house around 9:45 at night when all of a sudden a car behind me starts flashing his lights at me. He wants me to get over so he can pass me. I probably should have but since there was no one next to me, behind me, or in front of me, I realized there was no extra effort involved for him to just go around me. So after he flashed his lights at me about a dozen times, he went around me only to cut in front of me, and slam on his brakes when I got closer to him (extreme brakecheck). I swerved to avoid smashing into his trunk going 60 mph, and swerved so much that I hit the left guardrail on the 520 Bridge first, then went head on into the right guardrail. After the accident was over, while trying not to inhale the gas from the airbags, I realized my car was totalled, and I was now facing oncoming traffic on the 2 lane freeway. People started going around me slowly, shocked facial expressions galore, as well as some very rude drivers, including one Metro bus driver who manually opened his window just to yell “asshole” at me while he passed by. I realize that it probably looked like I caused this accident all on my own, because the car responsible for my accident was nowhere to be seen. What he did was technically a hit and run. And I do not know how someone can look into their rear view mirror and see a car they caused to crash smashing into guardrails and spinning around, without hesitating or stopping to pull over and see if I was okay. So after several hours of being in shock, interviewing with the police, and getting yelled at by countless lovely bridge drivers, I headed home with my mom. Even though all I could think about was the accident, all my parents could think about, besides me, was how they were going to go about getting another car for me for the summer, because my mom and I cannot share one car for another month and a half. Auto-space.comis a great place to buy a used car, and I know the car I’m going to be getting after that accident most definitely will not be new, so I might just have to start looking on-line at Auto-space.com today. After all, I’ve got to have a car with some quality, just in case another jerk decides to cut me off again.
