Are We Really Addicted to Oil?

I saw a commercial this morning that asked and answered this question with a resounding “Yes”.  The media has decided that we need to really start conserving our natural resources and therefore become less dependent upon foreign oil.  My response is “Duh”.  I grew up with the whole concept of conservation.  I turn off the lights when I leave a room.  I turn off the car when I run inside 7-Eleven for a Slurpee®.  I bring my own bags to the grocery store.  I try in every possible way to conserve all of our resources.  Have you considered vehicles that run on alternative fuels?  There are vehicles that run on biodiesel (vegetable oil, animal fat and alcohol) and ethanol (the same type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages) can be made from barley, beets, corn, cotton, fruit, hemp, molasses, potato, straw, sugar cane and sweet potatoes.  You can purchase a diesel, flex fuel or hybrid vehicle from auto-space.com.
